Pay Range: $15.00 – 17.00/ hour

Function

The Childcare Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, leading and evaluating Preschool programs in a manner that contributes to the child’s well being, growth and development. To provide a warm, nurturing, safe and loving environment where self-concept is enhanced, independence is encouraged, and individuality respected.

Supervision Received

The Childcare Teacher is under the direct supervision of the Program Manager.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

A. General Administration

1. Verbal and written communication with parents, staff, participants and the general public.

2. Prepare and complete lesson plans and agency forms.

3. Use appropriate and positive discipline.

4. Active participation in program.

5. Maintain and organize files and records for programs.

6. Adhere to all DCFS state guidelines

7. Meet uniform and appearance standards.

B. Customer Service

1. Staff will greet all visitors in a friendly manner.

2. Staff will be courteous at all times.

3. Staff will provide the customers with accurate information in all park district communications.

C. Safety, Health and Loss Control

1. Support, promote and make recommendations regarding all safety, health and loss control policies as adopted by the park district.

2. Follow all safety and health state guidelines and national accreditation standards.

Marginal Functions/Responsibilities

1. Prepare materials needed in program prior to class.

2. Submit supply requests as needed.

3. Assist with general housekeeping tasks.

Experience

1. Must have minimum two years working with children ages 3-5 in a child care setting.

Education

1. B.A., B.S., or A.A. degree in Education, Recreation, or related field preferred.

2. Must have a minimum of 1 year childcare experience and 30 credit hours in college coursework with 6 college credits in early childhood OR 60 college credits with 6 credits in early childhood
